2013 Certified Manure Testing Laboratories
Manure analysis is strongly recommended to help farmers know the value of manure applied to their crops in place of
commercial fertilizer. Using manure in place of commercial fertilizer often results in increased crop yields, but
accurate analysis of the manure is crucial.
The following laboratories, arranged by state or province, are certified by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture for
manure testing. To find out more information about the laboratory, including the types of tests it is certified to
run, click on the laboratory's name.
This is the only manure analysis certification of laboratories in North America. All of the laboratories have been
certified for Total Nitrogen and Total Phosphorus. Many laboratories also elected to become certified for other tests
including: Total Potassium, Total Solids, Electrical Conductivity, Copper, Sulfur, and Zinc. Make sure the laboratory
you use is certified for the tests that are important to your farming operation.
Before submitting samples, please contact the laboratory for instructions. Many laboratories provide sample
containers.
